Our Vision
Our vision is very important to us because the focus is you! Our primary goal is to enrich your life with a fusion of artistic expression, inspired passion, and challenging athleticism.
Artistic Expression
Sir Ken Robinson, at the T.E.D. conference, recently gave a talk titled, “Do schools kill creativity?” He reflects on how Gillian Lynne, the renowned choreographer of Broadway shows such as The Phantom of the Opera and Cats, was not immediately recognized for her artistic abilities and even mistakenly considered unintelligent with special needs. With such an emphasis on numbers and grammar an entire part of our brain is often left out. At Devine Dancers we feel an obligation to provide an outlet for creativity, artistry, and imagination.
Inspired Passion
turn out….turn OUT….TURN OUT!!!!!! This is the experience of countless dancers when learning proper foot technique. Rigorous technique makes for graceful, strong, and homogenous movement, but doesn’t always inspire passion. We emphasize a well rounded experience in dance. For example, you will not only learn proper turnout technique, but will learn it was Louis XIV (the Sun King) of France who began this tradition by requiring his court dancers to follow his lead so he could show off the magnificent gems on the insides of his shoes. At Devine Dancers you will be given every ingredient possible to help fuel your passion.
Challenging Athleticism
Research conducted at Stanford University, John Hopkins University , and Iowa State University show high amounts of "screen time" (computer, television, video games, etc.) leads to increased aggression, decreased test performance, and a dangerous increase in obesity. "Children's likelihood of being overweight goes up about 50 percent if they spend more than two hours a day in front of electronic screens, about 150 percent if they don't get enough exercise, and about 350 percent if they have both of these problems, " said Douglas Gentile from ISU. Healthy lifestyles are the building blocks that makeup the Devine Dancers foundation. We promote both physical and mental health by providing intensive and challenging athletic training leading to exercises in self-discipline and self-respect.
You are our first priority and we are working to build an environment tailored specifically for you. So, please let us know your thoughts and feelings through our feedback form.
